Mr. Stephen Knowlton
Welcome back to 2017-18 school year!
Wow is it that time again, the start of a new school year? Students as you begin to get back in to the routine of another school year let me challenge you to make it anything but just another year.
You have had the last 60 plus days to relax and have some fun doing whatever it is you do over the summer: fish, travel, swim, work, or expanded your mind on the worldwide web :).
Things are changing around JHS. You will notice some fantastic artwork hanging on the walls produced by your classmates. You will see and hear about changes in how classes will be conducted through the year. We have added some supplementary electives this year and plan to add more as staffing permits in the future.
Jay High School is a safe environment because we have students who adhere to the policies and procedures in place. Rules are there to support your effort and attitude to be the best student possible; please continue to abide by the rules in place.
Communication is key to the success of our school! Students talk with your teachers – they are your source of knowledge. Students talk with the administration if a situation persists. Parents please communicate early and often with your child’s teachers. Do not wait until report cards if you have a concern. If you do not get a reply within a reasonable amount of time from the teacher please email me and we will work together to get information.
Success of our students have three components – Student, Parent, and School. All three must be strong participants to provide the student with the best opportunity for success.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with your concerns and your celebrations – we welcome both.
